"State Farm Business Policy CMP-4100 is not worth the paper it’s printed on

I work on the top floor of a 6-story office building in Webster, TX. On May 27, 2026 the entire 6-story
building was closed due to a burst water main flooding the entire bottom floor. Building management
notified all tenants that no one is allowed to conduct work in the building or even enter it without an
escort for safety reasons until further notice.
I filed a Business Interruption claim with State Farm on May 28, 2026 which consisted of just one 15
minute phone conversation with an agent where I read the email sent to me by building management. I
emphasized that I was not an eye-witness. On June 9, I received State Farm’s claim rejection stating that
they do not cover damage from water seeping below foundations. I don’t know how they determined the
cause of damage because their investigation as it was presented to me consisted entirely of that 15 minute
phone call with a non-eyewitness giving a second-hand account of events.
Our building management now estimates our office will reopen by the end of July but that will have been
2 full months without revenue to keep my business alive. My business is now struggling greatly thanks to
State Farm and their illusion of coverage.
